Trailblazers Outdoor Adventure Club
The Healthy Living Program runs the Trailblazers Outdoor Adventure Club with children from public housing neighborhoods.
Most of these kids had never before had the opportunity to enjoy the beautiful hiking trails, streams and waterfalls of the Blue Ridge Mountains that surround Asheville.
This summer program creates that opportunity by taking youth living in public housing neighborhoods on 32 hikes to the most amazing trails of Western North Carolina.
We learn about the plants and animals living in our unique ecosystem while building our strength and stamina. Last year we hiked over 65 miles!
The children learned how to swim, how to work together as a team, and have an incredible time exploring the outdoors, and building relationships with nature that will last a lifetime. It is truly a transforming experience for all.
